NO FCRA USE. Madison County Criminal History is privately operated and has no affiliation with a local, Virginia, or federal government body. It is neither a private investigation firm nor a consumer reporting agency. This resource and its advertising partners do not offer a service for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or other decisions regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).
1. What This Website Is
This private reference site does not store government criminal records, conduct official checks, retrieve files, or submit documents for a visitor.
Its role is to identify official Madison County and Virginia resources, including the sheriff, court clerks, Virginia State Police Central Criminal Records Exchange, and Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry. Some pages also connect to outside research tools.
The Virginia Freedom of Information Act, § 2.2-3700 et seq., governs qualifying requests to Virginia public bodies, and Virginia Code § 19.2-389 controls CCRE dissemination. Neither law makes this private website an official record source.
2. Rules for Using This Site
Use is permitted only if you agree not to:
- Use the content in violation of federal, Virginia, or local law
- Harass, stalk, intimidate, or threaten another person
- Use the content for hiring, housing, lending, insurance, or another FCRA-regulated decision
- Attempt unauthorized entry into any system or account
- Send bots, scrapers, or other automated collection tools to these pages
- Interfere with site performance or another visitor's access
3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination
Information found here or through a linked service may not be used to stalk, harass, threaten, intimidate, or discriminate. Registry misuse is especially serious. Virginia Code § 9.1-918 makes specified harassing or intimidating use of Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry information a Class 1 misdemeanor. The registry supports public awareness, not vigilante conduct or unlawful discrimination.
4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency
We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and do not produce credit reports, official background checks, or consumer reports. Content from this website or a linked tool must not be used to:
- Make a credit or lending decision
- Evaluate a person for employment
- Screen an applicant for housing
- Set insurance eligibility or rates
- Make any other decision governed by the FCRA
A legally authorized check for a regulated purpose must use the proper Virginia State Police channel or a compliant consumer reporting agency, as applicable.
5. No Legal Advice
The material is general information, not legal advice. Only a licensed Virginia attorney can advise how a warrant, charge, conviction, expungement, or sealing law applies to a specific matter.
6. No Warranties
All content is supplied "as is," without a guarantee that:
- Information will always be current, complete, or accurate
- Outside search results will be correct or exhaustive
- Pages will be free from errors or security flaws
- Service will remain available without interruption
Charges, dispositions, access limits, and agency procedures change. No statement here is an official representation by a court, sheriff, jail, or state office.
7. Third-Party Services and Links
Links may open a government portal, legal resource, or outside search service that we do not control. The destination is responsible for its availability, content, pricing, privacy practices, and terms. Review those rules before use.
